Dr. Matthew Collins

Executive Vice President & Chief Medical Officer, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island

Matt Collins is responsible for establishing clinical priorities and initiatives to manage medical expense and utilization for Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhodes Island. A primary care physician, Matt has many years expertise in designing and implementing care models across commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid populations. Before joining Blue Cross in 2015, he served as senior director of medical affairs at Fallon Community Health Plan in Massachusetts. Matt earned his medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine and also holds an MBA from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He is an assistant professor at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and a clinical assistant professor of family medicine and community health at Brown University. He teaches and sees patients at the Family Care Center in Pawtucket. In addition, Matt serves as a volunteer team physician for the United States Rowing Team.
