Shweta Rane PhD, ISMPP, CMPP

Shweta Rane, PhD, BCMAS, ISMPP CMPP^TM is the Global Medical Director at Biogen, with over 16 years of combined experience (academia and industry) in early-stage/preclinical research, new product innovation, investigator-initiated research, medical/scientific communications, and medical affairs. Prior to joining Biogen, she has held positions with increasing responsibilities at Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, and GSK. She is experienced working on pre- and post-launch products from both regional and global perspectives, including working under a corporate integrity agreement.

Dr. Rane has an extensive experience across multiple therapeutic areas including cardiovascular diseases, gastroenterology, hematology, immunology, neurogastroenterology, neurology, neuromuscular disorders, post-transplant medications, psychiatry, and respiratory disorders.

Dr. Rane received her Bachelor of Engineering (Biomedical) degree from Mumbai University, her MS in Cell and Molecular Biology from Long Island University, and her PhD in Cell and Molecular Medicine from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now Rutgers New Jersey Medical School). She has also earned a mini-MBA from Rutgers University. She is an active member of ISMPP (with CMPP certification) and has served on the Data Transparency committee, CMPP Recertification and CMPP exam writing committees. Additionally, Dr. Rane is also a Board-Certified Medical Affairs Specialist (BCMAS). She is also a member of Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association and is currently a Mentor and Regional Director for the New England Region.
