Michael Carnathan MD

Dr. Michael Carnathan is a Board-Certified Family Medicine physician in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and he owns and operates a direct primary care (DPC) practice called Arrow Primary Care. Arrow Primary Care opened in September of 2019 and has flourished providing direct patient care without intrusion of health insurance companies or large health care systems.

Arrow Primary Care delivers healthcare in a direct primary care model. Instead of billing insurance companies for services provided, Arrow Primary Care delivers nearly unlimited primary care services for a monthly membership fee. By avoiding health insurance billing, patients are offered up to hour long visits, no waiting room times, direct access to their physician via phone, text email and office visits and massive savings on medical costs. Like most DPC practices, Arrow Primary Care also dispenses medications at wholesale prices and has discounted rates for most diagnostic testing.

Prior to starting his own practice, Dr. Carnathan was an employed physician for 7 years where he advocated for better patient care and physician satisfaction. He was a member of the physician burnout taskforce with Steward Medical Group at Easton Hospital in Pennsylvania. After witnessing firsthand that primary care delivery was subpar due to constraints placed on providers by health insurance companies and hospital administrators, Dr. Carnathan decided to start a patient focused practice.

Dr. Carnathan is diplomat of the American Board of Family Medicine, a member of the American Academy of Family Physician, a member of the Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians, a member of the Pennsylvania Direct Primary Care Association and a member of the Direct Primary Care Alliance.

Dr. Carnathan received his bachelor’s degree from St. Bonaventure University and his medical degree from St. George’s University. He received his residency training from Chestnut Hill Family Medicine Residency Program in Philadelphia.
