Karla Kosel

Karla Kosel is responsible for leading a 5-Star (HMO D-SNP) plan, SecureBluesm. She directs, plans, and executes programs and services for senior members enrolled in Medicaid and Medicare integration plans for dually eligible individuals at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota.  Her team’s focus is on person-centered care that helps members live as independently as possible and be part of the community. That includes delivering critical member services while seeing that all necessary state and federal contractual and regulatory criteria are met. With more than 30 years of clinical and management experience, including experience as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Minnesota and as a Certified Case Manager, Karla chose to leave direct patient care to focus on serving others on a broader scale — positively impacting a greater number of individuals. 

Karla believes that effective programming for Medicaid members must begin with input from stakeholders and include creative solutions.  As member demographics, social drivers of health and needs change, service offerings need to adapt.
